My name is Daniel Ryan. I was born on November 13th 1978 to Laura and David Ryan. I am from Boulder CO. I have lived in Boulder most of my life. I love photography and have a small amount of knowledge about nutrition. This is due to the fact that my mom are big health person and taught me a lot about food as I was growing up. She is not a weird vegan or anything, she is just really into nutrition. My mom is also a licensed nutritionist although it is not her career. My dad is a professional photographer and thats where my love of camera work comes from. He doesn’t use digital cameras, only film. He is really old school like that. I keep trying to get him to change but he wont.
At a young age I was diagnosed with CFS. It has been somewhat of a hindrance to me and it mostly just effects my energy levels. Chronic fatigue syndrome is kind of a misnomer, but it basically means I am sometimes left with no or very little energy. Sleeping or resting doesn’t help either. The symptoms will gradually get better over time and than flare up again. As you can imagine, having to deal with this as a child was no fun. That is why my parents taught me about nutrition and eating the proper foods. They hoped it would help me later on in my life and it has. Now it is more of an annoyance than anything else, but sometimes it can effect my reading and writing.
I have just finished my studies and I plan to travel the world as a professional photographer. I love doing macro shots but I am also a big fan of stereoscopic work. I just love the way cameras photos can imitate the human eye. I currently have a Nikon D4s that I use for macros. I like it but it is a little on the heavy side so I tend to carry an APS-C Nikon DS for those longer trips. For those that don’t know a “full frame” camera has a large sensor that can take much higher resolution photos. The sensor is the part inside the camera that light hits when the shutter opens. The larger this sensor is, the higher resolution the photo can become. The downside to this is that full frame cameras tend to be big and bulky.
I have created this blog to showcase my photography and hopefully earn a little bit of cash off my work. I am not ready to start selling anything yet since I have just started out and don’t have a lot of experience yet. I will be doing some traveling and studying abroad for quite some time. I hope to bring some interesting sights to all of you.
